Jackson Tate is arguably the best athlete to ever wear a Post 70 uniform. Tate’s combination of size, speed, and strength would garner anyone’s attention at first look, but what made him the complete player was simply the person he was. Tate would never tell you how good he was, and he played the game at 100% every time he took the field. The best example of what kind of player Tate was, and is, comes from the 2017 elimination game at the Southeast Regional. Post 70 was getting beat by a moderate margin and Tate was playing in left field. A ball was hit down the line, right next to the fence and stands, when Tate dove straight into the fence to attempt the catch. When the dust settled, Tate gained some scratches and bruises, but in Tate form…stayed in the game. It was an easy moment for him to “tap out” or even have gone half speed for the ball to begin with, but going half speed wasn’t and never has been in Tate’s DNA. Jackson Tate is the kind of player that represents everything Post 70 is about and we are extremely proud of all he’s accomplished.
